Where to begin? I grew up in Huntsville, Texas, which is near Houston if you're not familiar with it. I'm an only child and was the only grandchild on both sides of the family for 11 years, so I get a lot of grief about being spoiled (don't believe a word of it)! I had a wonderful Christian home that laid the foundation for the faith I have today (thanks Mom and Dad). I have always had a love of animals and have wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. So, when I graduated from high school I attended Texas A&M University (whoop!) where I received a B.S. in Veterinary Science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. While at TAMU I met my wonderful husband Read at a Wayne Watson concert on campus and we married in August of 1992. After graduating from vet school we moved to the Dallas area and I began practicing medicine in a small animal clinic. I worked there through October of 1999, when I took off in anticipation of our first child. I am now mostly a stay-at-home-mom, working only a Saturday or two a month to keep my hand in things. I have two precious boys, Geren and Joshua, to keep me busy these days. I miss medicine, but I would miss them more! We plan to homeschool, so I have no plans to return to work any time soon. This isn't exactly what I thought I would do with my life, but this is where I feel God has called me to be and that mothering my children is the most important thing I can do right now. |
